Hey guys -

So the chili cook-off is being held in just a couple weeks, and VRA's participation still seems to be up in the air. Would any of you like to compete on behalf of VRA? It would be weird to not have us represented at such a major event. Thanks in advance.

Also, the new website is up. Check it out if you haven't. You can sign up to volunteer, purchase advance tickets, or simply get more details.

It should be a good time. I'd appreciate any support you can give! happy

I also appreciate any support you can give (and think it would be weird for a vegan group to not participate in a local vegan food event, especially the nation's longest-running vegan chili cook-off happening right here in Austin). There's still time to enter, though not much.

It does take some effort, but you guys could do it.  It would be most helpful to have 4 or more volunteers to prep the chili, but then you get to take turns seeing the rest of the festival.  We'll have other vegan food trucks/carts there (ever had a vegan funnel cake?!), but if we don't have enough chili to offer the attendees, we can't have the cook-off at all.

That's pretty much why I'm co-organizing it.  Believe me, I don't have time for this either, but I'm making time because I think it's that important. Whatever you can do would be greatly appreciated.  Here are some suggestions:

> pitching in time or equipment (or a substitute person) to help VRA enter a chili team
> scout out other people who could enter a chili team, be a vendor, etc.
> ask your favorite establishments to give a door prize (none is too large or too small)
> volunteer to help us contact people before the festival
> volunteer to help put up carport tents on Saturday, November 10th
> volunteer to help us set-up, run, and break-down the festival
> tell all your friends, near and far, that the nation's longest-running vegan chili cook-off is happening right here in Austin on Sunday!
> attend the chili cook-off
> send good vibes our way
> send leads for next year's 25th Annual

Thanks for reading!

Looks like Jacob has to work that day. I've been thinking of doing one, but would need a couple more people to help out, any takers? Otherwise we may just have to do a VRA table or something.

We'll be there vending with Rabbit Food Grocery otherwise I'd pitch in to help out. Maybe post it up on the VRA facebook page and see if anyone bites?

That's how you Vegans Rock Austin!  We appreciate the effort very much and wish you luck with competing for a big cash prize.  One super tasty chili could potentially take home $450 (AND if it were also healthful, an E2 gift basket).  [That would be my dream chili!]

Seeing this in the FB event comments, are dogs allowed?

I don't think so. They weren't last year, though it was held at a different venue. I would still err on the side of no.
