We went to Habana for the first time tonight, and it was amazingly good.  We were able to confirm prior to our visit the accuracy of the vegan items from this old thread: http://veganaustin.org/topic.php?id=2647&r=34471#r34471

We were very pleasantly surprised.  The food was amazing, and their service is excellent.  We had the Vegetarian Mofongo for an appetizer.  It has a very unique flavor and was my favorite item that we tried.  The dishes we got were the Tofu Salteado with extra veggies and the Quimbombo (okra stew).  The Quimbombo was really good.  The Tofu Salteado was pretty good but definitely the blander of the dishes, and I don't know that I would get it again.  Pics below, except the Veg Mofongo, which was very cool looking.

Neither of us got drinks, but we do want to hit them up for Happy Hour sometime.  Their drink menu looked really interesting.  The atmosphere was nice too.  We should try to do an Austin Vegan Drinks there some time.

I forgot to mention that I made a point to let the restaurant know how much we appreciated having vegan options both verbally and on a comment card.  I also rated them on Groupon and mentioned that in my comments.  Since they also fry some stuff in oil with meat that would be otherwise vegan, I said that it would be great if they cooked those things in oil that is not also used to fry meat so that we could have even more options. happy

I was just going to make a new post about Habana! It's become one of our favorite places. I love getting the El Vegetariano with yuca con mojo, arroz con gandules, black beans, maduros and the spinach empanada (I'm not  strict about things being fried in the same oil).

Frankly, I could do without the empanada, but I didn't like their tostones or mofongo; both were too dry for my liking when I tried them, but that could have been a bad batch of plaintains, as everything else has been spectacular.

I would love just a plate of arroz con gandules, black beans and yuca.

I've had their mojitos, and they're delicious! Not very strong on the rum, but the lime and mint are balanced really well.
