Okay so mist of the stuff on here is about food but I want to talk about my new shoes. =)

Okay so I have been a fan of vans forever and have always had a pair of them. Well after a few(more like several) faulty pairs I decided that my last pair was my last pair, besides the fact that they were leather or suede and I just didn't feel right wearing them since becoming vegan.
Well I looked around at different shoes and found some by Macbeth that are AWESOME! They have so many different kinds clearly marked or labeled as "Vegan". I ended up buying a couple of pairs at Journeys inside of Barton Creek mall. Now, not all models are Vegan so be careful! The ones that are will state it on the shoe. One of the pairs I bought also supports the Keep A Breast foundation, the ones with the whole i heart boobies thing, which makes me feel doubly good! 2 good things in one pair of shoes, why the heck not right!

I took this a step further with my work shoes. My old ones ended up cracking on the sole which hurt like a mother so I did some research. I found several different kinds of shoes but some way out of my budget. Then like a beacon on my screen I cam across Soft Stags by Deer Stags. These are economical, which fit my budget, pretty comfortable, and look really nice! I am totally happy with my foot wear now! =)
If you want to check 'em out look on shoebuy.com they were the cheapest.

man... I sound like a friggin' commercial or something.

I was excited to get my Macbeths(I gave up on Vans too, after Rowley stopped being vegan) and I like the style of the ones I got. My problem has been that the side of the shoe separated from the sole really quick :/ I still may end up emailing them about it

Hopefully mine do not separate like that. They are not the most comfortable of shoes but I do like them. I wish they came in half sizes though. The hardest part was finding some that fit me well since I wear a 10 1/2 normally and found some 10's too small and some 11's to big.

I dig the look of MacBeths but they always seem really cheaply made to me. I bought 2 pairs a few years back and both had holes in them from daily wear and walking within a couple of months.
For now, PF Flyers Bob Cousy's are my go-to shoe. Black on black canvas is tip-top!

I actually got an email back from the guys at Macbeth and they let me know that this was a problem with the manufacturer they were using for a while but they switched over to a new manufacturer for the newer lines, so hopefully the problem should be gone.

I was planning to start skating again to break my old man body . I was disappointed with how few vegan skate shoes there appearto be now. I blame the nike-i-fication of skating. It turns out there are lots of veganskate shoes after checking out veganskateblog.com

That is cool! I never knew there were so many different vegan skate shoes out there! I guess the mind set on shoes is that they have to be made of leather to really last. That's sad really because then for kids especially they get that idea that if they are not leather then they are no good. I remember feeling that way back when I was a kid about the old canvas Vans. I had a pair but they were not my favorites as were my HUGE high top Airwalks.
I's funny when you look back at things and realize just how blinded you really were by everything around you, media influences and such.
