I'm going to Dallas next week and was wondering if anyone has any good food suggestions, besides the few things I already know about: Spiral Diner, Cosmic Cafe, Suma Veggie Cafe, Veggie Garden, Kalachandjis, Dream Cafe, and some new raw place. Anything? Thanks!

I've been to a few of those places. Suma, Veggie Garden, and Kalachandji's.

Fadi's Mediterranean is pretty good. They're similar to Dimassi's, but they do restrict you to just once through the line (no going back for seconds). So when you get there, just ask them to explain what to do. You grab a tray and pile on the vegetarian food that comes first in the line. Then you tell the guy behind the counter what cooked vegetarian foods you want. They charge extra for meat dishes, I think, so that works out perfectly for us. And they give you two warm pita breads, I think. It hits the spot...

There's also a Buddhist temple there that serves vegan Chinese food, but I've not gone to it yet.

I LOVE the buddhist place. It is very inexpensive, and the food is very fresh and delicious. It is served buffet style. It tastes like the kind of authentic Chinese food that i had in Hong Kong. There is a school on the first floor, then the restaurant on th esecond, and a temple on the third. The whole temple is in an office building - so it's a very Dallas experience.
It is in Richardson, so it might be a hike depending on where you are staying.

Thanks for the tips guys! I need to check out the buddhist place. While at the chili cook-off I posed the same question to a DFW vegan group that was tabling. They recommended a place called Cafe Fino, a kosher Italian restaurant that has fake meats. Have guys heard anything about that place?

I've not heard of them (Cafe Fino), but they sound like they try to accommodate vegetarians. I wonder if their pasta is made with eggs, though. I see they have a veggie burger, but then I wonder about whether their buns are vegan. Etc. You know how that goes. You'd have to call them up to find out.

Yeah, I definitely have to try that Buddhist place. Sounds cool.

I did not make it to Cafe Fino or the Buddhist Temple! But I did have a fantastic Festivus sandwich from Spiral Diner! I ate at Kalachandji's, Lakeway Whole Foods, Chipotle (feels like vacation food because I love it, but I never eat it while I am in Austin) and Genghis Grill. My friend and her Mom made a vegan pizza for me! They're so sweet - they even bought follow your heart for it. <3

In a pinch, just a stone's throw in DFW...

PF Chang's
Pei Wei

For the record, aside from Spiral & Lakeway WF I <<<333 Fadi's, Suma. Dallas has options. They're just so spread out.
