I've never heard this before, aside from the Seventh Generation Paper Towels.  Do you have any more information?  Does this include all types of recycled paper like that used in books or just the kind used for paper towels, napkins, etc.?

According to this thread Natural Value is vegan so it doesn't seem to be an issue of all recycled products. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php/www/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=231x17777

Gabe, I spent a good deal of time looking for where I read that originally after I posted it here, and the fact that I can't find it makes me think it was on the old PPK boards (which have been deleted) when this whole thing was news the first time around.

I'm curious about this myself and have written to Green Forest to ask if they use whey. I'll let you know if/when they respond.

I'll be interested to hear their response, Molly. As much as I enjoyed the old PPK boards, I definitely read some untrue claims (and whose falsehood was easily verified) posted there.  Of course, that's probably the case in all online forums, but I just wonder if this was one of those things where someone just assumed it was true of all recycled paper products and stated it as a matter of fact.  We can only hope....

I'm wrong. Green Forest (the other brand at Wheatsville) isn't made with whey.
