I went over to the VRA Fbook page and didn't see anything about the 'Gathering In the Park' happening today at 4:00.

Is this still on ?
Are we required to bring food ? ( What about if we just want to meet others and skip the potluck ? )

Also, where can I find more specific directions on where to find you all ?

So I actually haven't heard anything from AVVA (who organize this), I'm actually assuming now that it's probably not happening and that the event might have been put up as a placeholder on VRA.

Everyone I'm so sorry about this. We've had multiple issues getting things in place to have this event, normally I'm the one who does all the planning but I've just had no time, well, pretty much all year.

I've set the date, one last time, for the second Sunday in November, which I think is pretty much the last weekend an outdoor event would be reasonable to have, especially since October is so jammed full of events. Also that would've been when the vegetarian chili cook-off was going to happen, but that organization postponed it until next spring.

Again I apologize for leaving everyone hanging. I promise I'll get info out well beforehand this time.

We're shooting for either Springwoods Park up north, where the spring event was supposed to be, or back at Pease Park, where we've always had it in the past.

We're going to see if we can come up with an arrangement for people who would rather pay for food than bring it. Of course, if you don't want to participate in the "fooding" on any level, you can just come to mingle instead of eating.

Chili Cook-off postponed?!  That's too bad.  I know it can be difficult scheduling and planning big events like this.

I like the idea of paying for food instead of bringing it.  It's been a long time since I've been to potlucks that I haven't used my cook books in years :-(.

Plus, you don't have the pressure of eating something that is burnt, or tastes bad (  and faking that it's all good. )

" Oh I wuv it "  spoken with a mouth full of burnt food.
