Hey guys!

First of all, I just want to thank those of you who've been regularly scheduling meetups lately, you're amazing, thank you so much. I know I've taken a bit of a break since VegFest to thaw out from all the chaos, so just know that it's very very appreciated happy

I've previously spoken to a few of you about wanting to do this, but I want to schedule a meet-up soon for you guys who might be interested in taking more of an active role in VRA. Even if you're not sure but still curious, I'd like us to get together to discuss ways we can make our vegan community even more amazing. Veganism is really taking off in our city and I want us to do everything we can to keep that momentum going happy

Sample items to discuss: restaurant activism(+++), vegan guides, print materials, meetup planning/organizing, groups collaboration, improvements, interviews, etc.

I'm thinking we can meet up for coffee and hang for a while, perhaps on one of these days, let me know if any work for you: Thursday the 17th, Tuesday the 22nd-Thursday the 24th, could also do the week after if needed!

EDIT: Looks like maybe Wednesday, 5/23 is a good day?

I'm up for that when I'm not busy (probably next Thursday).  Is there any reason much of this can't be done online?  We could start a discussion in this thread right now.

Awesome, and sure we could get the ball rolling on some of the stuff online, but I think a face-to-face where we all discuss who would be down to help with what would be ideal. Stuff like event planning, talking to restaurants/businesses(whether about options or finding out what's vegan, etc.). We have lots of things planned for the site, but as you probably have noticed it takes us a while to get new things built out with only a couple of us working on it, so I think we mainly need help with getting out in the community.

(that's not to say we don't need web development help, of course that would be awesome)

Also interested.  I could be free the 17th if I can get a ride.

That week is kinda full of vegan events with craft night wed, capital city friday, running sat morning, board games sat afternoon, monkey wrench book signing/potluck sunday.  So I'd prefer the following week, but could make it on the 17th if that's what works best for others.

Agreed, there is a lot going on that week, so it really depends on if folks would rather wait til the following week when there's not so much stuff going on.

Sounds good.  Any of those dates should work for me.  Jessica usually works late on both Tuesday and Thursday.  What time would we be meeting?

Keep me posted. The 23rd wouldn't work for me. I'm assuming you are talking an evening meetup.

I'm new to the Austin vegan scene, I'd love to get involved and meet more people!

I would be REALLY interested in contributing (with $ and suggestions) to having a vegan restaurant guide printed on a postcard that we could put up at various businesses. I have a lot of out of towners (Scotland! LA! Nebraska!) who come specifically for my ice cream and I always end up writing them an endless to-do list on napkins. I'd love to have a postcard with businesses on them!

Also, when I lived in Portland, I would check the Food Fight! site for info on vegan salons, vegan doctors, vegan tattoo ink, vegan dentists, relators, catering etc.

Could we have a tab for vegan businesses?

Definitely in the plan happy Will be awesome to have one solid resource for vegan businesses, maybe even a wiki-type page.
