Okay so what is it with people thinking that the food we eat is gross?!

Sorry I need to vent.
So I have come across this a few times now. I have people ask me what I am going to eat or what I am eating and I tell them then they say it sounds gross or something to that extent. What the hell! How can they say that the food I eat, which is all natural is gross? I ask people if thy want to try some and some people make a face like it is the most disgusting thing on earth. Really.?! A Pancake with blueberry, strawberry, banana, pecans, oats, and pomegranate sounds gross?! Just because I didn't put cow milk or eggs in the batter? and I get an "Eeewwww, no thanks, yuck" out of my very generous offer!
Really, like eating the flesh and meat of a living breathing creature isn't gross! Eating the unborn fetus of a bird isn't gross?! Eating a BLOODY steak isn't gross, did I mention the blood? what are they Vampires who live off of cows, and chickens, and pigs? What the heck! Have they never seen where pigs live when not taken proper care of, or how cows are treated before the slaughter and made to sit or stand in their own feces? And they have the gall to say that my food is gross?!!
I don't get it.

On a lighter note:
A co-worker asked me what would happen if I ate meat or a dairy product since I am vegan.
I said in my most serious voice,"It could be bad. The worst part is when the vegan police come over and I have to check in and tell them what I ate. once they find out that I ate meat or dairy I get kicked out of Vegan Society. So it could be pretty bad."
"No way!?" she said.

lol i love that.

Yeah, unfortunately this is how many people react just at the mention of something being vegan. If you get someone to try something without them knowing beforehand it's vegan, it's a whole different story. Even after some people taste something and love it, once you tell them it's vegan they get grossed out. conundrum.

Haha! Perfect timing- a friend I hadn't talked to recently called today and left a voicemail posing as the 'vegan police' and had me doubled over laughing.
Back to the subject- as frustrating as it is for people to prejudge before giving your choices a chance, at least you know your lunch is safe in the employee fridge! In a store where lunches are raided daily, I have found that putting my food in a veg package, or writing my name on my food keeps thieves away. They don't trust my food, yay me!
(and yet, I win the 'blind' store bake-offs every time excited )

Glad I could make you all laugh!
I did end up telling the girl that I was just kidding and that I might get a stomach ache or get sick if I ate that stuff again, but the real thing is that I have no desire too eta any of it since I know what it is, where it comes from, and how it's made. She was cool with that and said she respected that logic.

I have also gotten a couple of people from work try out some of my Vegan snacks or food, including my pancakes, which are AMAZING!

This is why unless I already know the group is mostly veg...at events we cater we don't tell people our food is vegan happy we tell them after they come back for seconds and then they are amazed happy

Its crazy how ppl will hear something is vegan and not want to try it but if you just don't say anything, they will eat it, non-vegans often think our fajitas are chicken and our bbq pork !

Whoa! That sounds cool! Have you ever had anyone get mad because they thought they were eating something that it wasn't?
