While picking up an order from Conan's Pizza, the guy working the register told me that on Wednesdays they offer Daiya vegan cheese as a topping for free. |

never heard of this place. sounds awesome though. What doughs are vegan there? If you say the deep dish is vegan i will cry out of happiness |

Deep dish is vegan, both the white and the whole wheat. The thin crust is not - which is strange, since it's the other way around at most places. I recommend the Don't Choke Art pie. Having it on whole wheat is probably healthier, but the white crust gives it a complementary sweetness that's rather tasty. Also, there's a coupon on their website that you can print for two dollars off a large. Thanks for the tip, Erick. I wonder if the deal extends to all the locations, or just the central one. Anybody know? |

Just make sure to see the previous Conan's Pizza threads, especially the one where I point out the costs and the fact that they didn't tell me on the phone how to minimize my costs by choosing a specialty pizza. This one: http://veganaustin.org/topic.php?id=4156&r=30042#r30042 Make sure you order a specialty pizza instead of build-your-own. Also make sure you go to their web site and get the $2 off coupon before you go. Mind you, I don't know if they'll accept that when you also get free Daiya cheese. I think that was the deal - you can apply one or the other, but not both. I think. Oh, I should add that the owner of Conan's Pizza contacted me after I posted my problems in that last thread, and he gave me a discount. He said the person who took my order should have alerted me to better deals. And they made the mistake of charging me for the Daiya cheese even though they were running a special for free Daiya cheese (despite me pointing out the special to the cashier). At the time they argued that it was a Friday night, so it didn't count. But, the owner corrected that also and said the cashier was wrong. But I will say this, so far Conan's Pizza is my favorite pizza in Austin. Our company orders pizza from them like every other week also, to feed 100 people. They've apparently tried many pizza companies before, and they currently really like Conan's. These are non-vegetarians, by the way. I tried Promise pizza a little while ago. They also do Daiya cheese vegan pizzas. I ordered a medium. It was $11, which I thought was very reasonable. When I got it, I was surprised. It was barely enough for one person. Their medium is like getting a "personal size" pizza at most places. It was almost kind of funny when I first got it. And the amount of Daiya cheese wasn't very much. Good for people watching their weight, I suppose. They were super fast, though. There's also Whole Foods for pizza. They make a personal sized Daiya cheese vegan pizza for like $5. And it's actually pretty good. They make large ones also, for something like $13 or $14 with any number of toppings. It's hard to beat. And there's the Parlor, Hoboken pizza, and maybe a couple other places. I've not gotten a chance to check them out yet, but I've heard they're pretty good. - Steve |

I'm a huge fan of promise pizza, especially their cheesy garlic knots and also of the whole foods pizza, especially with delight soy chicken and tempeh bacon. I haven't had deep dish in almost a decade. I'm super excited to expand my vegan pizza selection. |

If you sign up for their e-mail list you get a $5 off coupon and a rotating coupons (like a free salad) and they take go local (10% off) so sometimes it's a better deal than the $2 coupon. The deal extends everywhere but the last I heard they were thinking about discontinuing Daiya at the Northern location since it was not very popular. |

I hope they don't discontinue the Daiya at the Northern Location. That would be really bad for us northerners! |

Josh, I am with you on Promise Pizza. Although I have have only been to the northern location and didn't see any vegan meats when I went. But the Daiya is free there always. The Gluten-Free crust is $5 more but I thought Daiya being free there was cool. I have yet to go to Conans and dayum Wednesday just ended. |

Yeah neither of the promise pizzas carry mock meats. The only place I know of in town that does is the north whole foods. Well worth it though. |

It's so hard for me to choose... I like something different about each pizza place. Thick-crust from Conans, thin-crust from Hoboken, free Daiya cheese from Promise, Gardein sausage from Zpizza, pepperoni crumbles from Parlor, sauce from... that's where I blank. I don't quite love any of their pizza sauces. But I would love to take all of their best qualities and make a super-hybrid vegan pizza. |

so i've been expanding my austin pizza experiences and so far my favorite is a tie between zpizza (slightly ahead) and the north wholefoods. Zpizza with sausage and mushrooms and wholefoods with chicken, bacon and mushroom. I went to the parlor yesterday and wasn't really into their mock meats that much. I really loved the atmosphere but wished i had liked the pizza as much. zpizza on the other hand was freaking awesome and just went there for the first time a week or two ago. |
