Hey Austin Vegans, if you haven't yet had an opportunity to try our deep pan vegan crust with Daiya cheese, now's the time. We're giving it away as a FREE topping all January long (a $3.50 value on a large).

Just print the coupon from our website, www.conanspizza.com.

So take your friends and see for yourself just how tasty it is.

Salud!

I picked the wrong month to start my exercise and diet program. Heh. Conan's for the win!

Just a warning, apparently that "all through January free Daiya cheese" deal at Conan's does not include Friday nights (and maybe other nights as well?). I just went to the Anderson Lane one, and they would not give me the deal for that reason. I didn't know about this stipulation, and it apparently isn't written anywhere on their web site.

In addition, they charged me 50 cents extra for pick-up. And I noticed that if I order a deep dish pizza, they charge $1.75 per topping vs. $1.25 per topping if I ordered a thin-crust pizza, which raises an eyebrow. And the difference between a large deep dish and a large thin-crust pizza is a whopping $4.

This after waiting on site for around 40 minutes after phoning in my order 30 minutes prior to then. Then again, it was Friday night, but I've ordered from them a few times now, and they've always had me wait. My advice is to take your time getting there, or bring something to read.

Here's my receipt. Keep in mind I ordered a vegan pizza and a non-vegan pizza for the party I was with...

1 LG Thin Wheat Build Your Own  $13.65
    Canadian Bacon               $ 1.25
    Onions                       $ 1.25
    Mushrooms                    $ 1.25
1 To Go Charge                  $ 0.50
1 L Pan Wheat Build Your Own    $17.25
    Vegan Daiya Cheese           $ 3.50
    Green Peppers                $ 1.75
    Onions                       $ 1.75
    Mushrooms                    $ 1.75
   [$2 OFF LG Deep Pan]         -$ 2.00
   [$2 OFF LG Thin Crust]       -$ 2.00
                              ---------
                                 $39.90
                             Tax $ 3.29
                           Total $43.19

So, $43.19 for two large pizzas. And my vegan pizza with 3 toppings came to $24 (before tax) after applying the $2 discount coupon I brought in. It ain't cheap.

I'm sad to say I won't be making Conan's a habit. Or maybe I should be glad I can stick to my diet after all. Haha.

Steve, I am very sorry for our mistake. The Free Daiya cheese is good every day this month and I will be talking to the person who took your order. He also should have told you that the "Garden Veggie" would have been a better way to go on your 2nd pizza; you could have added a 4th veggie and it would have been cheaper than "build your own" with 3 toppings. I will get you a gift certificate to smooth this over and hope you'll give us another shot. Conan

We used to get Conan's most weekends, but I've had to go gluten-free.  Any chance of getting a non-frozen gluten-free crust in the future?

Tweaking our menu to offer Vegan options was accomplished with relative ease for us. Creating a gluten-free Conans Pizza, and doing it the right way, will take quite a bit more heavy lifting. We haven't ruled it out yet, indeed, we've talked about it, but I can't say it will happen in the short-term,...perhaps in the future.

Kate just told me that Codie posted this on the Vegetarian Network of Austin Facebook: "Hey guys, if you're interested Conans central is experimenting with some veggie meat substitutes today, so go give 'em a whirl and tell 'em what you think!"

I understand completely.  Before I went GF, Conan's was my favorite, because of the quality.  Perhaps a GFVegan baker, such as Meghan of Sugar Tooth Bakery, could be of assistance, if you're willing to outsource that task.  I know she's got a decent GFV pizza crust recipe.

I went to Conan's for the first time last week & checked in on Yelp. The check-in offered free upgrade to Daiya! I am not sure if this is good for all of them or not, but the one I visited was on Stassney.

I didn't care much for the pizza hot out of the oven, but it was definitely one of the better leftover pizza's I have ever had. I'll probably go back only to put the pizza in my fridge to save for later!

Thanks for letting us know about the discount! That's funny about the leftover pizza. I don't know if it's just the power of suggestion, but now I feel like I too have enjoyed Conan's particularly in leftover form.
