I am seriously craving a veggie burger. An overcooked, crunchy veggie burger, preferably with lots of mustard and mayo, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and fries - with MORE Vegenaise. Can anyone help me out with that? |

I'd like to know as well. Sometimes, you just want a burger. |

Don't think I've had one around town with caramelized onions(though that would be awesome!), but my favorite has always been mother's bueno burger, and second place goes to mr. natural's. |

Mr. Natural has a veggie burger?! I had no idea. I really like the Bueno too. Add some guac and vegan cheeze and dip it in your leftover cashew tamari dressing. Yummmmm.... |

I tried Terra Burger for the first time a couple of nights ago when my roomie and I were looking for some grub after we realized Veggie Heaven was closed. It was pretty awesome. It had a simple burger joint style to it that you can't get from a lot of fancy veggie burgers (Like the Royal from BC, which is damn good...but not really like a burger.) I just wish they had vegan mayonnaise and I'd be gravy. |

In the Terra Burger thread, a person claiming to be from Terra Burger, Cameron Molberg, confirmed that they do use Veganaisse on the vegan burgers. The thread is here: http://veganaustin.org/topic.php?id=2660&page=3 and the post is about halfway down the page, by TrueCC. I haven't ordered a veggie burger in probably a decade(since before I moved to Austin), for a couple of reasons: most places don't offer vegan mayo, which is an essential vegan burger ingredient for me, unless the burger is OMG amazing in it's own right, or they place offers other more amazing toppings like sauteed mushrooms and onions or vegan cheese, or some other sauce; I had so many runs in with the dreaded mozzarella portabella Garden Burger being served to me as being vegan, when it clearly is not, that I have a bit of a trust issue with all veggie burgers; when I stopped eating veggie burgers, the only vegan option restaurants were selling was the vegetable-heavy non-hamburger style patty, which can be tasty, but isn't usually what I want when I want a burger, and; most of time, the burgers I could order were over priced for what they were, and they never really fulfilled me, but when I make them at home, they always do. That being said, I would try something like Terra Burger, since they do have the trifecta: vegan burger, vegan fries, and vegan shake. |

They have vegan shakes? Holy shit how did I miss that? Oh yeah. It was ten minutes before they closed when I went. ![]() |

I ended up making my own! ![]() http://stellatex.wordpress.com/2009/10/24/burger-and-fries/ I realized I had a frozen Boca Burger in the fridge, so I cooked that in my toaster oven. I sauteed some portobello slices and onions and loaded my burger with spinach, Vegenaise, mustard, and leftover pesto. All on whole wheat toast. Whole wheat toasted bun would've been better. I also made homemade fries using my new mandoline - win! And I totally agree with Ripe Tomato - a burger HAS to have vegan mayo, or vegan cheese, or both. Unless it is out of this world (or maybe has pesto). I want to try Terra Burger. I'll take my tiny Tupperware container that I use for Vegenaise sneaking, just in case they don't actually have any. I haven't tried the Bouldin Creek, but I've heard good things. However, lately I'm in the mood for more of a faux-meat burger than a veggie-based health burger, and I think the Bouldin one is the latter, no? Mmmm. Burger. |

the bouldin one is more of a meaty type i would say, sort of like a bbq burger and don't worry, terraburger does indeed have vegenaise ![]() |

>They have vegan shakes? Holy shit how did I miss that? Oh yeah. It was ten minutes before they closed when I went. ![]() Yeah, the shakes are the best reason to go to Terra Burger! They use nadamoo + soymilk, so it's a combination of coconut and soy ![]() When you go, make sure you order "vegan burger" and not "veggie burger". The two things that are different between the two are: the veggie burger has nonvegan buns; the vegan burger uses vegenaise instead of mayonnaise. I like to confuse them when I order and get the vegan burger with no mayonnaise. |

i know black sheep lodge (south lamar and oltorf, near birds barbershop) labels their burger vegan on the menu. the french fries are NOT vegan but the tater tots are. yay tater tots! their onion rings are NOT vegan. (i asked about all of this). i still like black sheep lodge since they have a great beer selection too. also, do you guys not eat the veggie burgers if the buns aren't vegan? do you ask every time?? |

>also, do you guys not eat the veggie burgers if the buns aren't vegan? do you ask every time?? If the buns aren't vegan, there's no point if the patty is vegan or not. I don't ask every time, because at Terra Burger, they have a nice "Vegan" sticker they use, so you know it's vegan (I think they stole the vegan society logo... possibly illegally) |

gotcha. so that makes only 1) terra burger 2) mothers and 3) bouldin the only vegan burgers in town? others chime in if you know whether other places have a 100% vegan patty + bun!!! |

Whole Foods has one that is kind of whack. But theiir fries is a'ight. Jackalope has one that is hella good but their grill is hella not vegan. I don't really like Terra Burger's veggie burger but like Gabriel said, their fries are good. Same with Hut's. Mothers has one but they can suck it cos how do you not have fries with your veggie burger?! basically, when I want one now, I just get a falafel wrap from Sara's instead... |
