Morningstar Farms Crumbles = NOT VEGAN! | |

Just read over at Quarry Girl (http://www.quarrygirl.com/2009/10/11/morningstar-farms-sucks ) that the MF veggie crumbles are now longer vegan. I have a bag of them in the freezer I just bought - and it is true. They now contain egg whites and skim milk! I am furious right now! I thought they were supposed to be phasing out eggs - not adding them! See this link from COK from 2007 I think. http://www.cok.net/camp/morningstar-farms/ And of course we finally went to zpizza over the weekend and got the vegan pizza with the crumbles - so we probably ate the now non-vegan crumbles. Great. Just wanted to give everyone the heads up! |

Can someone verify that's what Zpizza uses? If so, we need to let them know it's not vegan anymore and hopefully they can find an alternative. Also, send Morningstar an email and let them know how you feel, I just sent one over now. |

Zpizza uses morningstar. We just had them check the ingredients, and they are still vegan. Don't know how much longer they will have the old, vegan crumbles |

Yeah, they said they had 3 bags left in the freezer, so they'll probably have to find something different after that... |

yeah, i'm still crying. those griller crumbles have been around for a long time and i can't imagine adding egg helping their sales. they made the best tacos, spaghetti and meat sauce and chili. there is no substitute out there. WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! you know whole foods never carried their crumbles and i wonder if that hurt their sales. i always had to make a separate trip to HEB for taco night. |

I've never tried those crumbles, except on Z-Pizza. I guess it's good I saved myself some heartbreak. ![]() |

I ate tons of Morningstar Farms stuff when I was ovolacto, but I honestly had no idea that they even made that many vegan products. I never really bought anything from them because it seemed so silly to me that a company would include eggs and dairy in all of their products except three (I thought only the chicken and steak meal starters and the vegan burger were vegan). Like, obviously they see that there's a market for vegan things, or they wouldn't bother making anything vegan, so why neglect such a wide audience(not just vegans but people with egg or dairy allergies, too)?? I guess the stores in my hometown just didn't stock the vegan stuff, and I didn't bother to check the ingredients on products here. It seems like they're just shooting themselves in the foot with this one. Their letters sound snotty and insincere to me. |

"what a fucking corporate, rubber stamp response. barf." We have very similar gut reactions. |

So they sent me a survey asking how their customer service team handled my email, and I told them it was terrible, and that they were going back on their word about reducing egg usage from two years ago. |

I've noticed that Z Pizza has changed the "Berkeley Veggie" to the "Berkeley Vegan". Is that the case in Austin as well? |
