The Natural Epicurean is having it's annual Aphrodisiacs class on February 14.  We usually hold this class the weekend prior to Valentine's Day, but this year you and your significant other can enjoy the luncheon together, or you attend the class and prepare the menu for an anniversary or other special event.

Rachel Zierzow and I have planned a luscious slightly Italian-themed menu:

Artichokes with Lemon Butter

Porcini Mushroom Soup with Chestnuts

Tempeh Italiano and Toasted Pine Nuts over Seasonal Greens

Risotto Milanese

Maple Roasted Winter Squash with Apples and Fennel

Chocolate Amaretto Mousse with Almond Tuile Cookies and Kumquats

$55 for the first person, but I'm not sure on the pricing for the second person.  I'll find out.

Rachel and I just had a trial run of everything all together(previously we had worked on each dish individually), and it was spectacular.  Each dish was better than the last, and the meal felt luxurious without being so rich it was heavy. The soup is really fantastic; sort of unusual, but totally decadent, rich, and earthy.  The tuile was the thing that took me, personally, the most time and effort to perfect, and frankly, if you bake, the price is worth that recipe alone.

Of course, I'm totally biased.

I believe the second person is 41.25, and there may be a couple price, I'm waiting to hear back.

I saw a flyer tonight at casa that said 55 for first person and 30 for a friend etc. Is that the couple pricing or is that different?

Okay, that makes more sense.  I assuming that the prices are $55 for the first person, $30 for the second, which works out to $42.50 per person.

I don't know about the couple pricing, it was a phrase that was mentioned, but I haven't heard back about it.

Hey guys! I just emailed Karen from the school and here's what she said:

APHRODISIACS - COOK TO LOVE, LOVE TO COOK
-----------------------------------------
A Specialty Cooking Class presented by the Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts
Saturday, February 14th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Casa de Luz - Cielo Room

According to The American Heritage Dictionary, "aphrodisiac" is defined as:
adj: Arousing or intensifying sexual desire.
noun: Something, such as a drug or food, having such an effect.
[Greek aphrodisiakos, from aphrodisia, sexual pleasures,
   from Aphrodite.]

In this vegan and macrobiotic cooking class, we'll talk in detail about foods that are considered aphrodisiacs, but we'll also explain how presentation, ambiance, good health, and serving our partners affect our ability to arouse, to become aroused, and to fully enjoy this most delightful and precious part of our humanity.

And then we'll cook and eat some delightful and sensual food.

We explain that "love foods" can be divided into two categories: biochemical aphrodisiacs that have a direct physiological effect on our sex organs and the more important psychophysical group. (After all, there is no sexual organ more important than the mind.)

You'll learn to cook a complete meal to delight your Valentine's Day sweetheart and then have the opportunity to taste this exceptional food.

Here's the menu:

Artichokes with Lemon Butter
Porcini Mushroom Soup with Chestnuts
Tempeh Italiano and Toasted Pine Nuts over Seasonal Greens
Risotto Milanese (this is made with saffron)
Maple Roasted Winter Squash with Apples and Fennel
Chocolate Amaretto Mousse with Almond Tuile and Kumquats

Cost: $55.00 for a single attendee and only $27.50 for a friend or family member who enrolls and attends with you.  Per couple, it is $82.50.

I'll post the flyer as soon as they send it my way too awesome
