Hey, are there any teenage vegans out there? I'm seriously considering starting a group here in Austin where vegan teens can meet each other and offer some support.

That sounds great, I would like that! By the way, are you from the veggie delight blog? I recognize your picture. I'm cherry from the teenage healthnut blog. I haven't updated in ages though!

Hi there!

That idea sounds pretty cool.  I am a teenage vegan as well.  I have yet to actually meet another vegan my age (1cool.  I've been vegan for several years now.  I attend UT here in Austin.  Do either of you go to UT?  I have wondered how many other vegans attend UT-Austin and if I will ever meet any of them....angry

Okay, so I just posted the above message, and for some strange reason, where it is supposed to say "( 18 )" indicating my age, there is some creepy-looking smiling face doing something that looks like smoking, which is something I don't do.  Anyways, just thought I would clarify....

I would also say that I'd like to meet some vegan teens.

Hey! I'm just starting my freshman year at UT! I'll be living at a vegan Co-op called Royal. I'm so excited about it. I've been vegan for nearly 4 years now.

Yeah, that did sound a bit on the creepy side..between this post and the one about reading shampoo bottles while on the toilet, maybe you should change your screen name to Creepy Craig.  Has a potentially nice ring to it, perhaps...

Just kidding.  Thanks for the info about why the smoking smiley face was making unwanted appearances!

Anyways, in response to Rebecca's comment:
I am a 2nd year student.  I've read about Royal before and it definitely seems neat.  Do you know what major you are going to pursue?

They have a vegan co-op at UT? That's so cool! Unfortunately, when I go to college, I'm gonna have to live at home because living in the actual university is too expensive

ha!  yeah, obviously, this site is where I come to pick up the ladies...

I still feel like a teenager, so yeah, we should start our own vegan teenagers and/or vegan teens trapped in 29 year old bodies group!  oh man I can't read what I'm typing without feeling like I'm some 80 year old perv getting my kicks from watching high school basketball.

and on that note.  vegan co-op in Austin?  that is pretty dern neat.  man that was an awesome segue.

I'm not a teenager or an undergrad, but I'm a grad student at UT.  They keep us cloistered away, so you'd probably only see me if I TA'ed for you.

Right now I'm enrolled in Chemical Engineering, but I might change my mind later. What about you?

Yeah, and there's a couple of vegetarian co-ops too, like House of Commons and White Hall. My older brother goes to UT and commutes from home because he lived in the dorms as a freshman and hated it. But he has no social life now. But if you're an out-going person and like to get involved, it might be different for you. The co-ops are much less expensive than the dorms. The ICC co-ops cost about $4800 for 9 months for everything, including food and utilities, whereas the dorms are almost $8000. And you'll probably get scholarships or aid, which can really help. I'm going to get $11,000 per year from scholarships.

Any vegans at UT should definitely check out Students Against Cruelty to Animals. We're out in the West Mall 2-3 times a week and we're pretty friendly. Actually we're all jerks, but we bake a lot, so it's okay. Anyway, our meetings are from 7-8 every Monday in Benedict 1.102. We typically have free vegans snacks at every meeting depending on how broke the officers are and while you enjoy delicious vegan treats, we highlight various animal rights issues. The only time the whole food thing was a bad idea was when we had an "Earthlings" screening. This semester should be pretty fun since we hope to (finally) put on a benefit concert and really get going with different activism opportunities.

We're slowly taking over the internet:

The Teen Vegan meet up is an awesome idea!
