You guys want to finalize anything? There's the Happy Vegan booth at the Triangle farmer's market Wednesday night, as well as the Symphony potluck. I know that some of you may bike to the other farmers market, but we could still go Wednesday.

Any takers? A blank "Upcoming Meetups" = sad for me.

I suggest the 7/20 date for the potluck, but that's just my take.

for the symphony potluck

I'll be out of town the 20th...and I'll be coming back into town the 27th so I could do that if need be...I would toss out the 13th but patriotic is the one I want to hear the least...unless we had a really "all american" themed potluck or something haha

too bad I'm going to have to miss big band tomorrow... how about the one on the third of august?  we could throw two restaurant meetups and/or potlucks before that.

I'm down for anything. I'll be out of town July 3-7 for a family reunion. Anything other dates than those will be fine.

Some people here don't drink. If you guys wanna hang out separately, that's perfectly fine, but don't make it an official event.

actually i think there's enough of us to make a happy hour an official event.  other groups have happy hours. i think it's kinda nice. also, the place craig was talking about has vegan food so those not drinking can enjoy too.

dude, we've been talking about having a happy hour for months now.  drinking is vegan last time I checked.

We had an official happy hour before at The Parlor, and several people talked about doing those more.  Especially If it's at a place that serves some vegan food too, I think it's all good.

It's akin to the situation with any other theme--say a peanut butter potluck for instance would offer even less options for a peanut butter abstainer than most happy hour venues would offer a non-drinker.  I think it should be a place with good non-alcohol options, and not be focused on drinking games that would be exclusive of course, but I doubt that's what people have in mind anyway.

Do whatever you like. I'm certainly in no position to boss people around, and I certainly don't want to come across that way. It just seems that it would be more appropriate to put it in the Events section of the board (in a separate thread so people notice it) and not added to the Upcoming Meetups thing.

EDIT: With all due respect to you Jeff, I don't agree with your analogy. If we had a small group of dedicated VRA regulars that happened to have peanut allergies, I don't think we would have a peanut butter potluck. The venue may offer vegan food (The Parlor is sketchy, as we've found out), but the event is still alcohol-centered, and it may just be weird for us straight-edgers. Or maybe not. I don't speak for anybody for myself. All that said, I don't want this thread to blow up into some straight-edge vs. drinkers brawl. Live and let live.

I probably won't go to an event like the one you mentioned, but if you guys want to think up something else in addition to it, I'm down.

It's cool, Pete.  Just wanted to mention that we have posted those as official events before.  But I'm sure we will keep doing mostly non-drinking focused events.

happy

we can't all make it to everything.  obviously, some of us wouldn't even want to.  but that shouldn't keep others from posting events here.  nobody is the god of VRA.

drinkers would totally win.  did you forget we have jacob now? that totally tips the scale in our favor :-)

p.s. i'm joking.  or we could all meet behind the 7-11 on burnet to settle this.

when the drinkers win, the straight-edgers have to be our designated drivers for the evening.

lol...You know that's what would happen.

Except you wouldn't win. I know you think you're all that when you're loaded, but geez...happy
