FEBRUARY Event Suggestions?

Hey Guys,

Any suggestions for the February restaurant visits and potluck?  Since February is a short month our usual schedule would be too crunched if we let it fall as usual (2/12, 2/22 and 2/24).  I suggest we tweak it as such:

Tuesday February 5th at 7pm, Restaurant Visit
Friday February 15th at 7pm, Restaurant Visit
Saturday February 23rd at 6pm, Potluck

How does that schedule sound?

I know Marrakesh was tossed around, and to not make it too close to this weekend's Mediterranean potluck, maybe that could be on 2/15?

Other venue ideas:

Mellow Mushroom, Sarovar, Mother's, Guero's, Home Slice Pizza, Frank & Angie's, Koriente, Satay, Casa de Luz, The Parlor, Madras Pavilion, Curra's, Freebird's

I'll post another message about possible potluck themes...

Marrakesh is pretty good and in a very central location with good prices so thats my top vote.  Sarovar was good the one time I had it but they are quite pricey and there are limited options.  What is Frank & Angies?  Koriente would also be awesome, I haven't been there recently and I'd definitely be up for it.  I don't know what it is about Casa De Luz thats so fucking annoying to me but I haven't eaten there in months.  I mean the food is good and all but its worth maybe half of what they charge.  The one time I had the Parlor it was quite good but also very pricey.  I'm really into some Indian and have not been to Satay or Madras.  Are there any Japanese places in Austin that have worthwhile sushi?

if you ever want someplace to go on a special occasion or have a few bucks to blow i recommend musashino.  rather then just having to get a cucumber or avacado roll, they actually have a "chef's special" vegetarian plate where the chef makes whatever(let them know you want vegan though).  it's really awesome and is sushi like i've never had anywhere else, but too pricey for a meetup.  i hear uchi has good veggie sushi too, but also too pricey for a meetup.

Just an update--please mark these on your calendars:

Tuesday February 5th at 7pm, Restaurant Visit
Friday February 15th at 7pm, Restaurant Visit
Saturday February 23rd at 6pm, Potluck

I have been trying to post them in Upcoming Meetups, but there is a glitch with the new event coding system that Jacob is still working on.

How about Casa de Luz for next Tuesday the 5th?  I'm not the biggest fan, but it's easy enough to seat lots of people there and I'm kinda craving some clean food.  I know it's somewhat late notice, but it's okay if it's not a huge group of people.  Any feedback?

Hi, everyone. I've not been to any meetups before, because, well... I live in Indianapolis. I'm moving to Austin hopefully by summer, though. I'll be in town Feb. 5 - 17. I'd like to try to make it to the 15th meetup, but I'm not sure what my plans will be yet.

We have NOTHING like this in Indy. In fact, we only have ONE non-meat restaurant in the entire city. Oh man, Austin has so many options, I feel like a kid in a candy store! I look forward to hopefully meeting some more vegans in the area. I love to bake and cook, but my family/friends are all skeptical of anything unfamiliar. It'll be nice to be able to swap recipes with people!

the 15th is really close to the marathon (17th) so I might show up if its someplace I can get something heaaaaalthy but if its someplace exotic I might skip out.
