While I was strongly considering selling my 3 day pass, since I'm jobless and broke, and VRA is having the long-awaited tempeh vs. seitan potluck... I've decided to go with large crowds and extreme heat at zilker.

Who's with me??

Anyone?

Yeah, I couldn't have afforded to go, but my brother from KC got me a ticket!  So, I'll be there with him and would love to meet up with any of you guys there.  I am REALLY sad about missing the smackdown though.  I woulda brought a tempeh dish too...

If you are jobless and broke and have been waiting for the tempeh vs seitan potluck, wouldn't selling your ticket and going to the potluck make more sense?  I'm confused.  I'm sure Ross's kitchen will be filled with a large crowd and extreme heat if that's what you're into.

sorry for the confusion; it's not for sale!

That's ok, Jacob. You don't make sense to me sometimes either! awesome

ok

I'm sorry I haven't met Mandrew or Ripe Tomato, so I would probably have a hard time spotting you guys in a crowd! I would suggest meeting up for food elsewhere prior to the event, but I am broke... so much that I'm contemplating what to do for parking so I don't have to shell out an additional 15 bucks for the weekend!  Maybe meeting up wouldn't be so bad if I ate beforehand. I could buy a cookie... mmmm... wheatsville deli.

Malinda- maybe we can carpool?

I love your new pic Karen!  As things are right now, JP and I are going to be riding bikes to ACL.  However if he brings along a friend then we will have to drive and will have room for you.  From what I can tell, his friend is being flaky and is most likely not coming...

We live south (like S 1st and Stassney), so we were going to take the #3 or #10 bus.  It sounds like you live north, but maybe you could bus, too.  If you give me a general ideaof your location, I could help you figure out a route.  You can also go to capmetro.com, although a lot of busses in the downtown/zilker area will be on alternate schedules, and I'm not sure if the route finder takes that into account.  If you buy a day pass each day, it will only be 3 bucks for 72 hours of bus riding!

i'm not sure if you can still do this, but when i've gone to acl in past years i parked north of the lamar bridge for free and then just walked.

thought i'd throw that out there...

Hi, Mandrew.  www.capmetro.com gives you three options, which you can see here:  http://www.capmetro.org/riding/trip_results.asp?Orig=Banister+Ln+%26+Southridge+Dr&Dest=zilker+park&Date=09%2F14%2F07&Time=01%3A11+PM&Arr=D&Min=X&Walk=0.75&it_req=Plan+Trip&action=entry&resptype=U

I'm pretty sure that the #328/30 will be on a detour for ACL, though, since Barton Springs Rd is usually closed to traffic during ACL.  I'd suggest you walk to Manshaca to get the #3, take it to Barton Springs Rd and Lamar, and walk the rest of the way to Zilker.  That's pretty much what we're doing.

Me and Allyson have decided it's not worth it to go, especially with the epic vegan protein showdown on Saturday.  SO...

We have 2 tickets for sale at face value ($290 for both).  I just posted on Craigslist and got a couple calls instantly, but I wanted to make sure no one here wants them.

I have the PrintPass thing, but I think I'll try and pick up the wristbands tomorrow at the box office, so whomever buys the tickets doesn't have trouble getting them.  I'd rather sell both together than split them up, unless there are 2 people who simultaneously want to but them!

Thanks.

For those of you going, who are you most excited to see?  I'm really into Common being added to the bill.  However, its a real ball buster that Wilco and MMJ are playing at the same time as is Arcade Fire and the White Stripes.

hahahaha... "most" excited to see.... oh dear let me try to narrow it down:

Pete Yorn
DAMIEN RICE
Common
Regina Spektor
Decemberists

Real bummer about White Stripes/Arcade Fire & Wilco/MMJ.... sheesh. Might have to go splitsies on those.

Speaking of... woah crap! Decemberists are doing the Waterloo autograph session thing at 4:30, but of course the line is going to be INSANE and start early. omg omg omg.... I can't bring myself to miss Common's set... but I also can't bring myself to miss the chance to freak out over Colin Meloy! aack!

I'm especially excited about DeVotchka, The Decemberists, Andrew Bird, Bjork, Regina Spektor, and Bob Dylan.  Though I've seen Wilco at two past ACLs, and Bloc Party at one, they put on good shows, and so I'd like to catch them again.

I really wanted to see the White Stripes and to a lesser extent, Amy Winehouse, but since they both pulled out, I guess I'll have to wait.
