Hello Austin Activist Network,

Sorry for the short notice, but if any local activists want to Help me leaflet UT @ Austin you are welcome to join me, I will bring all of the veganoutreach.org booklets and can even leave you with some if your willing to do so in the future. I will be visiting from Houston, so a place to stay or someone to hang out with would be cool too

As you probably know, the college hosts ~40,000 students and is a gold mine/oil well for leafleting. From feedback to veganoutreach.org, every 100 booklets distributed yields about 2 new vegetarians. In a day alone one can easily give out about 2,500 booklets at that college. Not glorious, but the most effective/efficient form of activism known.

My days off of work next week are Tuesday - Thursday thus I will be in Austin/San Marcos for leafleting. Last week Texas A&M, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston and University of Houston over 5,000 booklets were distributed. On deck is Waco and Dallas areas.

See veganhealth.org/Colleges for how amazing this form of under-rated activism is . Since I am leaving Monday night please call if interested 713-732-0034.

Thanks and please forward on,

Casey

To Follow Up:

As expected, a huge success! Thanks to the few activists that assisted or offered to help us, help inform others about animal abuses. In total close to 9,000 booklets were given out in the short period of time! That is about 180 NEW Vegetarians, since on average about 2 per 100 booklets go veg based on feedback, veganhealth.org/colleges. We got plenty of great feedback from those interested. Some results posted are below...

I am back at work (Airport Operations) at Houston now, so Sarah the local activist that recently moved from Houston is stepping up as your point of contact for college activism now, email me at houstonhelpanimals@yahoo.com for her information if you want to get some experience with her. Those that helped, email me your full names for credit on the veganoutreach.org website. G2G off to Dallas this upcoming week - exhausted between work and leafleting other cities colleges. Please step up, your needed to leaflet concerts and colleges and even benefit events as parades, aids walks, dog park, shopping districts...!

We had plenty of positive feedback. My most satisfying moment occured as a
young man passed by for the second time reading the open pamphlet. He
looked at me and said, "This is unbelievable. " Our eyes met for a moment,
and I knew exactly how he felt. I knew we had made a connection, and this
was just one of many beneficial interactions.

In addition, we met many other vegans and vegetarians who thanked us for our
good work. 15 Guides to Cruelty Free Eating were given out along with a
list/print out of vegan friendly restaurants and the local groups website for recruiting compiled by Casey.

All in all, I felt that this was a very rewarding day.

Sarah

AGAIN ON...

9/4/07
University of Texas at Austin
Casey Constable -- 2250
Three spontaneous helpers -- 500
Total:  2750

Casey doesn't have access to a computer right now during his road trip, so I am posting on his behalf.

Today, Casey ran into a student who got a pamphlet from him last year, and as a result, she is now vegetarian / almost vegan.  Also as a result of this pamphlet she got from him last year, her sister and her mother are now vegetarians also.  Today, she stopped to help Casey leaflet for a while.  During the course of the day, two other people also spontaneously stopped to help him leaflet for a bit.

The three spontaneous helpers gave out a total of about 500 pamphlets, and Casey personally gave out about 2250 pamphlets, for a daily total of 2750.

This brings Casey's personal total for this semester so far to 9,358.  I would like to congratulate Casey on his first place position in the AAC list.  Of course, modesty prevents me from mentioning that my own personal total for this semester so far is 14,480.

Eugene

Casey
