Possible Potluck Ideas

Hey!  I wanted to let everyone know that I had a really good time getting to know you all this past weekend.  It was a treat to get to chat with others that I have something in common with and can't wait to hang out you guys in the future.  Hee hee- I'm not scared off!!

Here's a couple of ideas that I would be interested in:

- breakfast/brunch potluck.  This could involve wearing pjs (maybe?) or not.  There are so many good breakfast foods that are sometimes too much fuss to make for just one or two people.

- Bake-Off!  Some friends of mine in Baltimore did a vegan bake-off and each person/pair chipped in about $5 and a baked good.  Everyone stuffed themselves on sweets, then voted for the winner who got a cash prize.  This could be done with small gifts instead of cash too.  I thought this might be of interest since I noticed how much of a hurting we put on the dessert case at Dhaba Joy on Saturday...

Brunch would be awesome!

Sort of off topic, I'm living a house for really the first time as an adult, and my housemates and I were talking about different things we could do.  I thought about an all-night movie party with brunch, but my boyfriend thought that was lame.  Is that a silly idea or would people be into it?

Malinda, I think those are both great ideas.

I have yet to go to a VRA potluck, about how big is the turnout?

I think we are gonna do the

TEMPEH vs SEITAN Smackdown next!

That's my pick.  There was a brunch one last July that we missed, so that would be cool too.

happy

Ha Ha Jen!  I was really thinking pjs, not lingerie- I swear! happy  I can already tell that we will get along...

Yeah, I agree that TEMPEH vs SEITAN Smackdown is the way to go.  Really nothing can compete with any kind of smackdown.

>>I thought about an all-night movie party with brunch

That would be fun, but I seriously doubt that I could pull an all-nighter.  It makes me feel way too old, ugh.

Well Jen that means we will all just have to make a trip back there.  Wait a minute...did I just say that?!  Anyway, I look forward to the next potluck...all these ideas sound yummy.

I love anything themed!!!! (the best party i ever threw was "wet hot american drinking party"awesome Themed pot lucks are the best idea ever. I am so down and would love to offer my house up for one.

I would request (since I am very pregnant and have gestational diabetes) that the bake off to wait a month so i can participate!! happy

Brunch or any other theme sounds great though!!

malinda! i have vegan friends in baltimore! i wonder if they are the same as yours!

we had an Asian potluck once & we had a 4th of July potluck too but I don't remember if it was themed

I'm all about another brunch potluck. Ever since Mother's has been gone the only good place to get brunch on weekends is Casa de Luz.  I'd also be up for the all-night movie night w/ brunch as long as Jeff doesn't get to pick the movies.

Also, I don't think we've done a barbeque potluck.  Someone needs to buy a grill and have us over for Labor Day!

I've thrown out the idea of a peanut butter theme.  I haven't been able to go to one of your potlucks yet so I'm not sure if that one has been done.
